Feb 27: Actress Lena has made a surprise announcement, revealing her 3 month old marriage to Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, the Group Captain chosen among the Gaganyaan Mission’s astronaut pilots team announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Malayalam actress Lena broke this news on her Instagram and wrote, “Today , 27 February, 2024 , our Prime Minister , Modi ji Awarded the First Indian Astronaut Wings to Indian Air Force Fighter Pilot ,Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair . It is a historic moment of pride for our Country , our state of Kerala and Me personally . In order to maintain the officially required confidentiality, I was waiting for this announcement to let you know that I got married to Prasanth on 17 January, 2024 in a traditional ceremony through an arranged marriage.”
Earlier today, Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India introduced to the nation the four-member team selected for India’s space travel programme, ‘Gaganyaan‘, with Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair spearheading the task force. Lena was also present at the event. Scheduled for 2025, the Gaganyaan mission will venture 400 km from Earth and return after three days.
Who Is Actress Lena’s Husband Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair?
Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair hails from Nenmara, Palakkad, and serves as a Wing Commandant in the Indian Defence Force. He is the second son of Chitilanchery Vilambil Balakrishnan Nair and Prameela of Thiruvazhiyadu Poolangattu. His educational journey includes primary schooling in Kuwait and higher education at Pallavur Chinmaya Vidyalaya and NSS Engineering College, Palakkad.
Prashanth pursued further military training at the National Defence Academy (NDA) before joining the Air Force in 1999. Notably, he earned the ‘Sword of Honour’ from the Hyderabad Air Force Academy in 1998 and graduated at the top of his class from the US Air Command and Staff College.
Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair has undergone extensive training for the Gaganyaan mission, including 13 months in Russia covering various terrains and climates, along with technical, sports, physical, and yoga training. He currently serves as a squad leader in the Indian Air Force and has received training on multiple aircraft, including the Sukhoi fighter jet. His siblings include Pradeep Nair (USA), Praveen Nair (UK), and Sister Prathibha (Thrissur).
Lena, known for her roles in Malayalam cinema, debuted in Jayaraj’s film “Sneham” and holds a degree in psychology.
