IRIS, is a 4000 square foot eye diagnostics laboratory adjacent to its existing Neoretina’s 8000 square foot facility. A state-of-the-art ophthalmic diagnostic centre, optical, pharmacy, and a premium private ward for patients are all located in the IRIS block.

Speaking about the benefits of the new system, Prof. G.V.S. Murthy, Director, Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad  said, “The rapid increase in the load of Diabetic Retinopathy and other retinal conditions in India and with advances in retinal imaging techniques, it is imperative that efforts should be made to institutionalize screening of Diabetic Retinopathy in diabetic clinics and general practice to reduce visual impairment and blindness in diabetes by identifying and treating early.”

Neoretina fast, easy, patient-friendly, ultra-widefield (UWF) 2-minute imaging technology is designed for healthy eye screening, detecting deep-rooted retinal problems

The Smart Retina check-up initiative is based on the New Optos Imaging System that reproduces a 200° single-capture optomap® retinal image with unrivalled clarity in less than a second. This fast, easy, patient-friendly, ultra-widefield (UWF) 2-minute imaging technology is designed for healthy eye screening, detecting deep-rooted retinal problems, staging of diabetic retinopathy, and high blood pressure changes in the retina, peripheral retinal degenerations, and uveitis.

The new advanced Neoretina Smart Retina Check-up is a walk-in eye screening initiative and very convenient for patients of all age groups and will facilitate improved practice flow and patient engagement. Studies show that optomap system images are faster to capture and easier to review than traditional patient examination techniques. A recent study found a 28-minute (33%) reduction in patient waiting time after implementing centralized optomap imaging.

“We wanted to ease the pain of patients, who otherwise have to go through almost 2 hours of dilation ordeal. The new retinal imaging technology is exceptional for imaging pathology that we were unable to document in the past. It makes it easy for doctors to identify and document diabetic changes and helps patients see their scans and understand these critical changes. What is comforting for the patient is that the scanning takes less than a second,” says Dr. Raja Rami Reddy P., MD FRCS, Founder, Medical Director of Neoretina, and a specialist in retinal surgery with more than 20 years of experience in the field.

Further, patients can see and understand what you are looking at. It is reassuring for them, which is fulfilling for a doctor as well as their patients, Dr. Raja Rami says, and added that the new IRIS facility can examine 100 patients every single day. The Facility also has a new private ward with 3 premium rooms for the comfort of inpatients. We have also expanded our services in Uvea, Paediatric ophthalmology, Orbit, and Oculoplasty, recently.

The retinopathy speciality eye institute has an astounding 93% success rate in complicated retinal surgeries, which is testimony to its unmatched services in eye care, enabling it to become one of the most reputed eye hospitals in the country.

The newly opened 4000 Square feet state-of-the-art eye diagnostics centre will also have several other eye care diagnostic services like the advanced multi-spot, multiwavelength yellow LASER for diabetic retinopathy, and the latest best-in-class no-dye, no-injection Topcon Triton OCT angiography to study the blood flow abnormalities in the retina.

The Eyecare Institute is a NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Healthcare Providers) accredited Super-Speciality Eye Hospital located in the heart of the city of Hyderabad.

Neoretina over the last 12 years treated 300,000 patients with high success rate

For the last 12 years, the eye institute has treated over 300,000 patients and conducted more than 25,000 surgeries, and hosted 30 CME academic programs for doctors in AP, Telangana, and Karnataka. Furthermore, its well-qualified doctors have published their research articles in National and International peer-reviewed scientific journals.

More than 1,600 published and ongoing clinical trials, as well as thousands of case studies and testimonials, show the long-term value of optomap imaging in diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient engagement.

According to a survey in 2020, the number of adults worldwide with diabetic retinopathy, vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy, and CSME (retinal swelling due to diabetes) is estimated to be 103.12 million, 28.54 million, and 18.83 million, respectively; by 2045, the numbers are expected to increase to 160.50 million, 44.82 million, and 28.61 million, respectively.

Initiatives like this from the eye institute Smart retina check-up will surely be a step towards allaying the vision problems in our population, especially diabetics.
