It was a historic moment for the Indian women hockey team on Monday, the 10th day of Tokyo Olympics as they beat Australia 1-0 in the quarterfinals to enter into semi-finals. This is the first time in their Olympic history that they moved into this spot.

Earlier, for India at the Tokyo 2020, Dutee Chand recorded her season best timing of 23.85 seconds in the women’s 200 m race but finished last in the heat, failing to qualify for semifinal.

Indian shooters had another unhappy day, with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput failing to qualify for men’s 50m rifle three positions final.

India is now pinning hopes on Kamalpreet Kaur as she will be throwing the 1kg disc in her quest of a medal.
