UFC 282: Jan Blachowicz, Ankalaev Bout Leaves Boxers Perplexed, Winless

UFC 282, bout ended with lots of surprise and questions in the mind of Jan Blachowicz, the former Champion and Magomed Ankalaev. The boxers challenge each other in a five-round bout in the main match of UFC on Saturday in T-Mobile Arena. The fight ended in a draw as the judges split their scores relatively evenly.

There’s no new light heavyweight champion following Saturday’s UFC 282 headliner, because Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev fought to a draw.

Judge Mike Bell scored the round 48-47 in favor of Blachowicz, whereas Judge Derek Cleary favored Ankalaev with a score of 48-46. However, the final judge Sal D’Amato scored them evenly, 47-47, which resulted in a split draw.

After the end of the fight, Blachowicz immediately raised Ankalaev’s hand as if marking him the winner. But in reality, Ankalaev would have lost the match if he hadn’t performed excellently in the fifth round.

Judge Cleary and D’Amato favored Ankalaev in the final game by scoring 10-8, which is why the fight ended in a draw.

UFC 282: Blachowicz says he was unsure whether he was the winner

In the post-match interview, Blachowicz said he was unsure whether he was the winner and would have to check the match. However, Ankalaev was adamant about winning the game and asked where is his championship belt.

In the post-match conference, UFC president Dana White announced that the former champion Glover Teixeira would take on Jamahal Hill for the championship title next month at UFC 283. The former champion Prochazka is indefinitely out due to his shoulder injury, but his return is is anticipated around mid or late 2023.

There’s no new light heavyweight champion following Saturday’s UFC 282 headliner, because Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev fought to a draw.

Blachowicz (29-9 MMA, 12-6-1 UFC) and Ankalaev (18-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) battled for five rounds in the vacant title fight in the pay-per-view main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, leaving everything in limbo with a split draw.
