KTR, Minister for IT and MAUD who is having a successful business tour in the US today announced that Ocugen will be setting up an R&D center with focus on modifier gene therapies and regenerative cell therapy, which is one of the key areas of focus for us as we look to triple the size of lifesciences ecosystem to USD 250 Bn, a vibrant biotech ecosytem in Hyderabad.

“I consider this investment strategic in nature and I’m confident that they will make a significant impact on the lives of people here and around the world “- KTR announced this news during his ongoing tour in the US.

This follows two major investment announcement day ago with Medtronic, and with Warner Bros. Discovery to set up their new centers in Telangana.

Ocugen, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing novel gene and cell therapies and vaccines that improve health and offer hope for patients across the globe. We are making an impact on patient’s lives through courageous innovation—forging new scientific paths that harness our unique intellectual and human capital.

The company’s breakthrough modifier gene therapy platform has the potential to treat multiple retinal diseases with a single product, and we are advancing research in infectious diseases to support public health and orthopedic diseases to address unmet medical needs.

According Ocugen the company remains dedicated to its potentially first-in-class ophthalmic programs targeting blindness diseases and vaccines to support public health. Since the beginning of the year, the Company has been leading advocacy efforts and pursuing government funding to potentially bring its inhaled vaccines for COVID-19 and flu to patients and healthcare professionals searching for next generation options.

Given the FDA’s recent cancellation of emergency use authorizations issued to monovalent vaccines, Ocugen will now focus its efforts solely on the development of the inhaled mucosal vaccine platform, starting with quadrivalent flu and bivalent COVID-19.

During his ongoing tour the minister held discussion with Avi Basu, the founder of Wingsure – an Insurtech company, in New York. The discussion at the meeting centered around the exploration of potential business opportunities within the domains of agriculture and agri related financial services.

@wingsure uses deep tech to deliver instant access to personalized insurance products and advisories for small farmers and rural communities globally, enabling climate and financial resilience, economic empowerment, and livelihood sustainability.
