Let’sVote Walkathon and the pledge to Vote Walk in Hyderabad Today, witnessed an enthusiastic convergence of over 2000+ individuals including the who is who of the city, IT professional, College Students, first time voters, all came in large numbers to invigorate the democratic spirit as the State of Telangana heads towards Elections on 30th November.
The event was organised by Let’sVote, an apolitical, nonprofit, civil society organisation, in partnership with Chief Electoral Office, Telangana, along volunteers and a large number of participants, took a pledge to vote and walked 5 Kilometre to promote voter education and awareness, at Gachibowli Stadium, prior to the pledge the audience participated in the Zumba dance with tremendous zeal as a warm up to the walkathon.
The walkathon was flagged off by Mr. Vikas Raj, Chief Electoral Officer of the State along with Mr. Anjani Kumar, DGP, Telangana Sarfaraz Ahmad, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Shrikanth Sinha, CEO, TASK, DGP, Former DGP , Mr. Mahender Reddy and many other prominent personalities from the city participated in taking pledge to vote and the democracy walk, reemphasising the power and belief in electoral process.
Mr. Vikas Raj, Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, expressed the significance of this event, stating, “He applauded the energy, enthusiasm at the LetsVote Walkathon serves as a pivotal platform to emphasize the importance of active participation in the democratic process. He shared his optimism that this energy will convert into increased voter participation.
Let’sVote Movement Gains Momentum in India
The Chief Electoral Officer added, it is a collective responsibility to exercise our right to vote and shape the future of our nation. He also stated that great effort has been made to ensure safe and fair voting and he urged each and everyone to participate in this festival of democracy as responsible citizens on 30th November. He added, “your vote makes a difference and it is our duty to vote. Vote is not a holiday, it is our moment to vote.”
Adding to this sentiment, Mr. Anjani Kumar, DGP, Telangana, highlighted, “By participating in this LetsVote walkathon we have demonstrated our commitment to nation building and state building. When we vote we also show a path to our children to take care of our country. Election is the greatest festival of democracy, let us participate with full devotion and joy/ This is the best way to tell that we love our motherland , our country.”
