Prevent Google Photo Loss: Tips to Retrieve and Secure Your Memories
SHARE

March 3: Google Photo the most loved platform is great, but it has few challenges too sometimes. In the digital age, accidentally deleting important photos is a common mishap that can cause distress.

However, with Google Photos, there are ways to retrieve deleted photos and safeguard against future losses. Here’s a DIY guide to restoring deleted photos and ensuring the safety of your precious memories.

Retrieving Deleted Photos in Google Photos

When you delete a photo in Google Photos, it is moved to the Trash folder where it remains for a specific period before permanent deletion. Here’s how you can restore deleted photos:

Check Trash Folder

Locate the photo you wish to restore in the Trash folder.

Click on the ‘Restore’ option to bring back the photo to your phone gallery or Google Photos library.

Explore Archive Folder

Sometimes, photos are mistakenly archived instead of deleted.

Check the Archive folder for missing photos and select ‘Unarchive’ to restore them to your gallery.

Utilize Google Photo Support

Visit Google Drive and access the Help Page.

Click on “Missing or deleted files” and choose either “request chat” or “email support” for assistance in retrieving deleted photos stored in Google Drive.

Consider Third-Party Recovery Tools

While not guaranteed, third-party programs like PhotoRec or Disk Drill can be used for photo recovery.

Exercise caution as fraudulent tools may pose security risks to your devices.

Preventing Future Photo Loss

To safeguard your photos and prevent future loss, consider these proactive measures:
Enable Automatic Backup: Ensure automatic backup is activated to securely store your photos in the cloud, allowing access even after deletion from devices.

Download and Store: Download important google photos and store them on an external hard drive for added security.

Utilize Google Photos Features: Use features like “Lock” and “Archive” in Google Photos to protect important images from accidental deletion.
